Creating Value and Embracing Growth:The Path to Personal Success

7 December 2023

I consider myself a pretty successful person, but not in the conventional sense.

I’m not rich and I have received no awards for my work, or published any books — not yet!

My presence on social media is non-existent. Outside my daily life, I am non-existent to the world.

I have written hundreds of articles on self improvement and personal growth on how to live a fulfilling life.

Before we get lost in the details of who has the privilege of identifying as a successful person, I will say this much:

I get up at five every single morning and can’t wait to start my day.

I get paid to ask questions and make a living by teaching and coaching young people to be the best version of themselves. I cannot express enough how much I love every second.

I have paid off my house, my car. I live in alignment with my values and long-term goals, and I treat myself as someone I love.

I have created a loving and respectful relationship with my children and my wife.

My wife and I are in the final stage of transitioning towards a FIRE (Financial Independence, Retire Early) lifestyle. This means that instead of waiting until the traditional retirement age, we are pursuing our passions at a younger age.

Achieving financial freedom and mobility is not a dream, but a plan we are carrying out.

Within four years, we plan to spend six months on a small island outside of Bali to escape the cold Swedish winter.

Work less and enjoy more of life. Keep adding value by writing and sharing our journey.

If this is the lifestyle you’re looking for, you’ll walk away with valuable insights that enrich your understanding of success and personal fulfillment.

In this article Ill share some core values that have taken me from fat, poor, and burned-out to physically and mentally strong.

In this article, I will share the core values that enabled me to go from being overweight, poor, and burnt out to being physically and mentally strong.

I credit these qualities for shaping me into the person I am today.

Once you understand how to create value, you realize that the game is over and you have won

Create value today

Begin now, don’t wait. Starting now instead of waiting for the perfect moment is life-changing. By taking immediate action, you maximize your opportunities and make progress towards your goals, no matter how small.

Set aside time to learn

Learn as much as possible, so you have something to offer in your daily interactions. By expanding your understanding and learning as much as possible, it will equip you with a wealth of valuable insights and skills to share with others.

This will undoubtedly enrich your conversations and enable you to make meaningful contributions.

Find, create, or learn to love something and be consistent

when you do something that you love, you become a better person to be around. You radiate positive energy that uplifts and motivates those around you.

Your presence serves as a beacon of inspiration, offering unwavering support to others.

You foster a nurturing environment for personal and collective growth.

Stop looking for shortcuts to success

Success overnight is a myth, and the same goes for motivation.

Quit searching for quick fixes and begin designing mental workout routines.

So, instead of expecting instant success or motivation, embrace the process, learn from failures, and stay committed to your aspirations.

Define what success means to you and your loved ones. Don’t listen to society’s version of success.

Success is not a checklist, it’s a lifestyle, it’s a feeling, it’s built on something much deeper and over time, through persistence and a willingness to adapt and grow.

Life is a long game, and the only currency is how you spend your energy.

Focus on creating an environment that supports the person you want to become

People don’t aspire to be rich or successful. They want to feel what the rich and successful feel.

They want to have the freedom and mobility to do whatever they want.

What they don’t teach you in school is that you don’t have rich or wait to become the person you want to become to feel that way.

That is something you experience right now.

In every thought, you hear the whispers of doubt or determination.

You have the option to choose.

By internalizing the qualities and lifestyle of the person you aspire to be, and practicing them in your thoughts, actions, and habits, you alter your faulty thinking.

Once you let go of entitlement and limiting beliefs, your attention turns to building the life you dream of.

You no longer waste time distracting and numbing yourself from the miserable life you have created.

What you’ve created is too precious to squander on mindless social media scrolling.

Learn to communicate

Life is communication, all the time, no exceptions.

Of course, most of it happens without conscious thought.

If you don’t learn to communicate, you will suffer a lot and inflict pain on those you say you love.

That suffering will bring a storm of destructive habits to your door.

Communication matters.

Learn to set boundaries

If you don’t know what you need, you will get what others think you should have, and you won’t like that.

If you are unsure about your needs and cannot communicate them, you end up with what others perceive as your needs, which will not align with your actual preferences and desires.

Learn to precisely articulate your physical and emotional needs to ensure that you receive what you truly want and need.

Learn conflict resolution skills

You can resolve daily encounters with communication gaps, personality differences, attitude disputes, lack of collaboration, or competition for resources by learning to handle conflicts.

It’s not the conflicts that are the problem; it’s how you deal with them that counts.

Surround yourself with people Who inspire and push you to be the best version of yourself

Look at the people in your circle. Whether their presence inspires and encourages you to expand your horizons and surpass your current limitations.

If it does not motivate you to grow beyond yourself, you don’t have a circle; You have a confining cage.

Stop Focusing on being perfect and start embracing curiosity and growth

It’s easy for you to get caught up in the current obsession with being “perfect” and striving for flawlessness in every aspect of life. However, it’s important to note that being a perfectionist can have detrimental effects on relationships, including the one with yourself.

This constant need for perfection creates unrealistic expectations and puts unnecessary pressure on yourself and others.

Perfectionism leads to feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, and self-doubt, as no one can truly be perfect all the time.

How do you define perfection, anyway?

What is perfect for you it’s trash to someone else.

Embrace the idea that it is not only okay for you to make mistakes, but they are an absolutely necessary part of life that fosters stronger relationships, both with others and with yourself, as they allow for vulnerability, growth, and self-compassion.

Don’t aim to be perfect. Aim to be a learner.

Stop being a consumer and start being a creator

Learn how to critically evaluate the difference between what you need and what you want to become a better consumer.

This is how my son described it:

“I want that winter jacket, but I already have two winter jackets and another one will not make me happier.”

The products and services you consume shape your personality much more than you think.

By understanding the impact of the products and services you consume, you gain a deeper understanding of how they contribute to shaping your personality and lifestyle.

If you spend most of your time consuming, you’re not creating.

A life without creating is a life without purpose. In the absence of purpose, we become consumers, enduring suffering until our last breath.

Final Thoughts

To achieve personal growth and become the best version of yourself, it is important to approach things one step at a time.

Each thought and question have tremendous power in guiding you on your journey of self-improvement.

As you envision the best version of yourself, consider the practical changes you must make in your life to align your actions with that vision.

Reflect on your values, goals, and aspirations to pinpoint where action is required for positive transformation.

That will adopt healthier habits, pursuing meaningful relationships, or investing in personal development.

The goal of progress is not to achieve perfection or make drastic changes overnight, but to put in effort and focus on growth.

Take the first step this week towards becoming the best version of yourself.

Sett aside time for self-reflection, start a new hobby, or project that forces you to get to know yourself better.

Reach out to a mentor or coach for guidance.

Embrace the process of self-discovery, learning, and improvement.

Each small step you take will contribute to your personal growth and bring you closer to becoming the person you aspire to be.

Trust in yourself and your ability to create positive change in your life.
